Our Standard card stocks deliver great looking results on industry-standard 14 pt thick paper. We offer 16 pt Premium thickness cards as well. Both Standard and Premium cards come in uncoated, matte coated, and gloss coated options. Explore our other options as well, Deluxe 18 pt cards, and our Enviro papers for a natural look printed on recycled stock.

Coated vs. Uncoated

With coated paper, the first thing you’ll notice is the shine, whether it’s super glossy (UV Coated) or more subtle (Matted Coated). Coated papers have lower porosity that prevents ink from penetrating its surface, know as ink holdout promoting oxidation-based drying for improved gloss and image quality. In contrast, uncoated papers rely on ink absorbency for drying.

Tip: Coated papers deliver sharp, high-contrast results with a cool feel. They excel in showcasing fine-detail images and maximizing ink snap (contrast with white space). Often used for glossy materials like magazines and high-end product catalogs, especially in automotive, jewelry, and appliance industries.

Perfect for creating a polished, professional look, coated stocks are produced with coated surfaces that fill in the tiny spaces between the paper’s fibers. The result? A smooth, flat surface to print your project. Bottom line: If your goal is a project that looks modern with imagery that really pops and catches clients and potential customers’ eyes, we recommend a coated stock.

Heavy ink coverage

Matte or gloss coated papers are the best option for heavy ink coverage. Our coated stocks come in 14pt, 16pt, and 18pt thicknesses so find the coated paper that best suits your project.

Soft Touch

Soft-Touch is a lamination applied to the front side of your cards that makes them feel soft to the touch. The texture is "velvety" - a tactile experience that is noticeably different.

UV coating

UV coating, also known as ultraviolet coating, is a transparent, lustrous liquid coating applied to printed materials. This coating is a popular printing technique for protecting items that are handled often or simply look better with a high-gloss finish.

Uncoated stocks

Compared to coated stocks, uncoated stocks are generally rougher and more porous. Since they don’t have a coating to seal the spaces between the paper’s fibers, they’re more absorbent than coated stocks and are a great choice for businesses big and small.

Tip: Uncoated papers exude warmth and authenticity, making them perfect for educational, non-profit, and environmental projects, as well as identity systems, publications, direct mail, and catalogs.

Bottom line: If your goal is a project that looks subtle and understated and can be written on, we recommend choosing an uncoated stock from your online printer.
